We plated the damper pictured here for a customer in the automotive industry. Specifications called for a black zinc coating to be applied to this part, which featured dimensions of 7″ in diameter, 1&” in thickness, and a weight of 12 lbs. Operating in accordance with ASTM B-633 TP2 SC1 standards, we executed the appropriate pre-plating cleaning as well as both pre- and post-coating treatment for reducing the risk of hydrogen embrittlement. Quality inspections in our in-house lab verified that the finish was uniformly applied to within the minimum 0.0002″ and maximum 0.0005″ tolerance requirements. We processed 54 of these units according to the customer’s required 10 day turnaround.
